Robinson Wild was appointed to prepare a Heritage Statement to accompany an application for Listed Building Consent for a Grade II listed building within a conservation area in Central London. The purpose of the commission was to assess the significance of the listed building and to evaluate the potential impact of proposed internal refurbishment works within the context of relevant legislation and planning policy.
As part of the instruction, Robinson Wild undertook a detailed review of the building’s historic development, including analysis of historic mapping, archival material, and planning history. The study also included a comprehensive assessment of the legislative and policy framework, together with relevant Historic England guidance.
Through a proportionate, evidence-based approach, the team evaluated the building’s heritage significance, identified key elements contributing to its special architectural and historic interest, and assessed the magnitude of impact arising from the proposed works. The assessment applied a structured methodology to determine whether the proposals would result in harm to significance and to ensure compliance with national and local policy requirements.
The Heritage Statement enabled the client and design team to proceed with a clear, policy-compliant justification for the proposals. The outcome supported informed decision-making and provided a robust basis for securing Listed Building Consent.
